WiFi Embedded development kit

Hi,

I am doing this project as a hobby and also want to know a little bit
about WiFi. I found the found kit

from rabbit semiconductor / digi. The processor is 70MHz RCM5000
series.


My goal is to connect this kit to a remote server using WiFi,
download
some information from the server and upload some information to the
server and based on the information use the micro to turn on a motor
od something( have not decided yet.


Since, I never worked with wifi before, i want to ask that is this
the right kit for me or what should I consider before select the kit.
How does the wifi bandwidth effect the speed of the processor?


any advice will be highly appreciated.
