I need a simple way to find wifi locations in my RV. I need this to be
very directional and not connected to my laptop.

(I have a high-powered Buffalo wifi card in my laptop and a very
directional/multi-element antenna).

Thanks for any suggestions,

Dennis

Ok, a drive by hotspot finder.

Yeah, but it's in your laptop so by your own self imposed limitation,
you can't use it. Therefore, it has to be stand alone. I suggest a
wi-fi hotspot detector such as:
<http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_Product_C2&childpagename=US%2FLayout &cid=1129067566905&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVis itorWrapper&lid=6690539789B52>
Tear it apart and attach an external antenna. The only thing the USB
port does is supply power. Find a cell phone USB charger/adapter and
cable to power the hotspot detector.

If something like this is not what you want, kindly describe:
1. What problem are you trying to solve?
2. What do you have to work with?
