We migrated from NT to Windows 2000 some time ago, and now wanted to start
using Remote access.

Remote access has been configured as per the MS recommendations. Users can
dial in and are authenticated sucessfully. You can ping any Server or PC on
the LAN. However you can not telnet into any port on any server (e.g. port
25 on the mail server- exchange 2003). When you try and send and recive mail
from the remote PC using outlook, you get the message " Server is
unavailable at this time", even though you can ping it.

Has anyone come across this problem?

All latest service packs are loaded. there is no IPSec configured.
