What are you using for your VPN connection? What is the Path Maximum Transmission Unit (PMTU). Sometimes over VPN connection we can get

Really there is not enough information to be able to accurately troubleshoot this issue. Are there any events thrown in the Event Viewer Logs? Also how do
other RCP applications work? That is to say from the machine that you want to DCPROMO, can you open Computer Manager and choose to manage
another machine in the central office across the VPN Connection?
We would probably need a more accurate description of the actual event to do a better job of narrowing this kind of issue down in the forum.
