Hi everybody...

I recently started offering to my customers a wi-fi Internet connection in
my cafè...

When somebody asks to connect his laptop to the Net, I simply provide him
with a PCMCIA card and the CD containing the drivers for it.

I read somewhere that the drivers of some wireless interface cards are
provided by default on WindowsXP (and on Win2k too)...
Does anybody know where I can get the list of those WNICs?

It would be nice to get rid of the driver installation need!

Thanks to anybody who'll be so kind to reply!

What http://www.stayonline.net offers is a 10BaseT - Wireless adapter.
The client is expected to have a network port already, and be set for DHCP.
They plug this thing into their working ethernet port, and the wireless
adapter connects them. No configuration needed at all.

If they already have a wireless adapter, they can connect with that.

It's the first place I looked at... but it seems that the HCL has been
replaced with this "Windows Catalog", which doesn't seem to contain any
information about the inclusion of hardware drivers in the o.s. installation
cd.

There's also an old version of the HCL, but I didn't find any recent
hardware mentioned there. I guess that the updates have been discontinued.

Thanks anyway...

Yep, sorry, didn't realise it was that dire!

Well I guess you could go and trawl through the .INF file containing the
supported network cards and pick them out from there?

I went to www.pcmall.com and searched for "wireless ethernet adapter"
They all mention "driver free" and sell in the $43-$69 range.

I see that SMC has an ethernet adapter at $69 and a USB adapter at $43.
