Why this link inaccessible?

I'm unable to get to the following site, yet a friend had no trouble.
http://www.epanorama.net/links/motorcontrol.html#dc

I also followed advice to get to it by an alternative route, but that
gives same result, i.e. I end up on page
http://www.reed-electronics.com/ednm...o&doc_id=30982

which says: "We are sorry, but the article you've requested cannot be
found. You may try searching for the title in our Article Search
above."

Could someone else give either of those URLs it a try please?
And does anyone know why I should be unable to access it yet someone
else can?

First one fine, second gives "we are sorry" message.

Security settings - are you allowing cookies? - epanorama seems to
deposit one on my system.

Hi there,

Works fine for me here. Is this the only page you are having problems
visiting?

The usual cause of this error is that you have a corrupted file in
your browser's cache. So, the first thing you should do is clear your
browser's cache.

If you are using IE:

1 Pull down the Tools menu and choose "Internet Options"
2 Click on the General tab.
3 Click on the Delete Files button in the "Temporary Internet Files"
section and then click OK when the dialog box appears.
4 Click OK to close the Internet Options dialog box.
5 Exit and relaunch Internet Explorer.

After clearing your cache, you need to quit and restart your browser.
If you don't quit the browser, your cache will not be completely
cleared out.

If this doesn't seem to solve your problem, try rebooting your
computer.

If this does not fix the problem, you may have a caching proxy server
between you and the web server. To see if this is the case, check the
proxy setting for your browser. If there is a proxy server set, try
turning it off. Then clear your cache again as described above, and
quit and restart your browser to see if it fixes the problem.

Kind regards

Luke

Thanks Luke.

I just tried this again
http://www.epanorama.net/links/motorcontrol.html#dc
and that comes up fine. Maybe it was before, and I mis-reported it,
not sure.

Anyway, if I scroll down to the link in question 'Motor controller
uses fleapower' and click it, I get several pages in quick succession,
one of which is
http://www.reed-electronics.com/ednm...layout=article
but that error message is the end result.

FWIW, if I go back and examine that link's Properties, its address is
the very unwieldy
http://www.epanorama.net/counter.php...sc=designideas
Clicking that here while composing this post gives the same odd
succession of pages, and the same error result. No schematic on a
motor controller.

In contrast, I can get other links in that Circuits section, such as
http://www.bobblick.com/techref/proj...e/hbridge.html
http://www.reed-electronics.com/ednm...97/20di_04.htm
etc.

But I found I got same error when I tried 'Motor-control scheme yields
four positions with two outputs'.

I emptied my MSIE6 Internet Cache, but no change.

Under Settings (for my BT Broadband connection) I have no proxy set.

Something to do with cookies? Darned if I can remember where they are
set.

Weird stuff...

Not sure where that's set? But see also my reply to Luke: I *can* get
other links from
http://www.epanorama.net/links/motorcontrol.html#dc

maybe there's a problem caused by the counter.php scripting not handling the
rest of the line properluy. It looks like epanorama.net wants to log which
links are clicked. If you take of the initial part up to ...url= (so you
use http://www.reed-electronics.com/ednm...x.asp?layout=a... ) what
happens then ? FWIW I see an article which has a PDF version too :
<http://www.reed-electronics.com/ednmag/contents/images/92503di.pdf>

As for the article not found error, well maybe the page in question was
missing, or again, maybe there was a problem with the article number that
was requested. Anything with ? or & can be messed up when handled via a
script, which is why makeashorterlink.com fails on some URLs. Peter M.
