Hi
I'm finding that every 24hrs or so my 1mg connection falls to about 250 kbps
or so but rebooting my Netgear DG834 router restores the speed to near
enough 1mg.

Is this a router problem or something else?

Thanks
Roger

Hmm, not sure, what does your SNR show up as when things are going slowly?

Routers do not generally retrain the ADSL modem unless the connection
drops. If you have a very poor SNR then the router will drop the line
when the error rate rises so high that it loses sync. This should
restore optimum performance until the noise spectrum changes and the
training carried out no longer maps the most bits/sub-carrier to the
frequency bins with the highest SNRs.

So, see what your SNR does when the speed is slow, if it is still good
then it is likely the cause lies elsewhere.

I/O buffer memory leakage, perhaps? Using latest sane firmware version
(1.05.00) or something older? There are later betas available, for the brave.

What programs are you using during that time?

I have the same router and have a similar problem with some P2P and
bittorrent clients.

I'm using the V2.10.09 Beta, I upgraded from V1.04.01 to V1.05.00 but
suffered dropped connections so upgrade to the beta on the recommendation of
Netgear support.
