Hi!

I am trying to set up two subnets for my windows 2003 server

My ISP has provided me with a router (ISPRouter) which can provide me with 5
static ip addresses (ISP_IP1, ISP_IP2,… ISP_IP5,ISPmask, ISPGateway)

I have successfully attached another router (MYROUTER) to the ISP router by
using one of the aforementioned static ip addresses (ISP_IP1, ISPMASK,
ISPGateway). If I go the website http://whatismyipaddress.com/, ISP_IP1 is
the ip address displayed by this website.
)

I can surf the Internet with no problem at all but I cannot ping ISPGateway.
However, I can successfully ping ISP_IP1 (the static IP address used to set
to set up the second router (MYROUTER). Additionally, ISP_IP1 cannot be
pinged from another computer on another subnet –I cannot ping ISP_IP1 from a
friend’s computer.

Why cannot I ping my ISP gateway IP address?
If my address on the Internet is ISP_IP1, why cannot this IP address be
pinged from a computer on another network? ISP_IP1 is a static ip address,
isn’t it?

What is going on here?

It looks like your ISP has some filters put up that do not allow ICMP (echo,
etc) traffic to their routers. You could ask them about it.
