I've got a Linksys BEFWS11 router doing a wifi network. I have a Linksys
WET11 providing internet access to an Xbox; it works fine for on-line play,
showing that the WET11 can see the wireless network and provides proper
internet access to ethernet devices. So, in trying to extend my wireless
range, I'd like to plug a second access point (also a BEFWS11) into the
WET11. My understanding is that it can get its network from the WET11 just
like as if it was a cablemodem directly, and if I set it to broadcast on a
different channel, I can then get better range (if I locate it on the edge
of the signal of the primary AP). Problem is, when I plug in the second AP
into the WET11, it cannot see the network. What could possibly be the
difference? I used a cross-over cable etc. Why might the Xbox see the net
but not the BEFWS11?? Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Mike

Not sure if this will help, but it's a new Wi-Fi item, aimed at gamming
consoles!

Are you setting the 2nd AP to a channel that is 5 channels away from
the first? That is a must.

I have heard that you can only have one MAC address (client) behind a
WET11. Some of the newer ethernet adapters/bridges offer multi-client
capabilities, e.g. AirBridge by SmartBridges and Engenius (Senao) 2611
CB3.

I'd like to try this myself with a WET11, but have not yet.
Please keep us posted on your progress.

I've got the main AP on channel 6, the other one on channel 11. Anyways,
right now I'm connected to the second AP by a direct ethernet cable. The
problem isn't the wireless - my client laptop can see both wireless networks
just fine. The problem is that for some reason the second AP can't see the
network.
