I have two shares for the same location, say \\server\share and
\\server\share$. I am moving all my users to the hidden $ share for better
security.

I can see in computer management there are still 40 users on the original
share but I can't see who those users are.

Any ideas on how to tell wich users are on a particular share?
Thanks

Drew

Drew,

first of all, moving users to a "hidden" share only gives a false sense of
security, you will find that someone who really wants to know what shares
are on a server, will not be limited by the fact that you have all share
"hidden", and therefore they are not really hidden. There is no alternative
for properly configured ACL.

Second, you can use the "net file" command to lists all open files on a
server

HTH,
_Edwin.

Well, at least the average browser won't see my users usernames (which were
shared.)

The net file shows me what files are open, but it doesn't show me what share
was used to open the file. That is what I need. Did they open
\\server\share\word.doc or \\server\share$\word.doc?

Are you looking for the Computer Management app on the server?
branch down to System Tools, Shared Folders, Open Files

Thanks but no that does not show me the information I need. Anyone willing
to suggest something please read carefully. I need to know who is connected
to shareA. I have shareA and shareB pointing to the same files so the open
files tool will not help.
