Any opinions ??

Linksys WRT-54GS or Buffalo WZR-RS-G54.

Also can anyone explain the difference between using PCAnywhere and the VPN
built into the Buffalo router. I spoke to Buffalo tech support and the guy
was nice but pretty much went in circles. I guess he needed to protect his
product.

Thanks
Joe

I'd stick with a 'name brand' like netgear, linksys, etc. I'd also do a
'google' and read some reviews to see what's reliable.

I like my Linksys wireless-g 2.4Ghz, I had some Airlink to try to save some
money but it would go dead every 2 days or so and I'd have to reset it.
With the linksys, we dont have to unplug it and plug it back in but maybe
once every 2 weeks.

Joe,

PC Anywhere and VPNs are two different things.

PCAW is a remote desktop product - it lets you control a remote computer, as if
you were sitting at its desktop. It may or may not provide access to files,
depending upon how it's configured.

A VPN sets up an encrypted tunnel between you and the endpoint - either the
Buffalo router if it provides a VPN endpoint, or the remote computer if the
Buffalo provides VPN passthru. With an encrypted tunnel, you can access files
on the remote computer as if it was a server on your LAN. But you can't see the
desktop, like you can with PCAW.
