Which polarity to use on long link?

Hi Rich,
I plan to setup a 3 mile link using 2 PAWVA24-16 (Vagi's) in vertical
polarisation because I believe that a lot of interference occurs as
horizontal polarisation but I have not tested it yet. This is one thing
that we will be testing as the Vagi works well in either plane.
I think that using a dish you can also change to polarisation by turning the
LNB through 90 deg.

Cheers

We are looking at either a Pacific Wireless PMANT15 parabolic or PAWVA24-16
yagi for a
link that is roughly 1.7 miles. Which polarity are you using with your long
links?

Is one easier to set up (pointing) than the other? Would you recommend a
procedure in setting up
one's first link?

Thanks.

whichever one is not already in use in the vicinity.

no difference in performance or setup. have a look at the interference with
the antenna both ways, and choose the polarity with the least noise.

I am not entirely certain of the situation at the S band frequencies, but at
lower frequencies the majority of man made noise in the RF spectrum is in
the vertical polarity. In those cases a horizontal antenna is used to get
some isolation from that noise.
