Afternoon all.

Im looking at getting adsl and have come to a stop. Im not sure which isp
to use and which hardware to get. I have looked at:
BT
pipex
Demon
Zen
Bulldog etc any good or bad points anyone??? I do want to run VPN over it
and use newsgroups.

On the hardware side i've looked at:
D-Link DSL-604+
Solwise SAR-715PVW
Draytek Vigor 2600we
some has said to look at Netgear DG834 but as i've seen on here its new and
now one has any yet. I would like to have wireless but could go for it
later. I needs to have SPI firewall, IDS, logging and be able to do VPN
from it to other vpn device although pass though would do if it comes to it.

Any help appreciated

Regards

Lee

I think the Netgear DG834 is new, so I'd also be interested in opinions
of it, as it seems to be "all-in-one" box.

You'd be better of getting an adsl wireless with 4 port switch straight from
the start. I have Zen as an ip and the Lioncom adsl wireless. Had the
D-Link but it wouldn't go through more than 1 wall. I understand the Vigor
is good. Pass on VPN don't know this.

Lioncom adsl 4 port router, Nildram adsl running on Redhat 7.3. You can see
and hear me and my pal Joe Longthorne on uktalent.org.

As usual Tiny Ramsden recommends Lioncom omitting to mention that HE is
Lioncom !

Draytek Vigor has VPN support.

Martin

currently using a Netopia Caymen 3364 on Nildram.
Does firewall, got a 4 port switch built in and does VPN, with both pass
through and router termination.
Use the VPN all the time to manage servers at werk.
