I am sure this must have been answered before - BUT -

Does anyone have any info on the upgradability for WPA support on the
following components:

Linksys WAP11 version 1
Linksys BEFW11S2 version 1
Linksys WUSB11 version 1
Orinoco Gold PC Card
Orinoco Gold USB

Thanks in advance.

Forget about these three: http://www.linksys.com/press/press.asp?prid=116

The PC Card is supposed to be getting WPA updates (when I have no idea);
haven't heard anything about the USB version.

Thanks for the info. If anyone is looking for an easy crack - just
visit my wifi locations.

I can't find it on the Proxim website anymore, but there was a table
listing all their products and when their WPA will be available.
I remember the 802.11b products were scheduled for a driver update
by 10/31/03. However, it was noted that only Win 2000 and XP will be
supporting WPA (there will be no OS upgrade for Win 9x and ME to
support WPA by Microsoft).

Though, I guess, if that table was intentionally removed from their
website, that their plans and commitments are gone too.

D-Link have just released WPA software for the DWL-650+ (802.11b) card.
It's version 3.06 and available on their Taiwan web site. I haven't
tried it yet (I think I'll wait to see how you other people do with it
first) but here is what the web page for it says is new -

1. WPA support for Windows XP, using Microsoft WPA supplicant.
2. WPA support for Windows 2000, using Funk WPA supplicant.
3. Fix Auth. mode Auto bug.
4. Fix Intel chip 845 compatibility.
5. Add new function of close the utility automatically after 10s.
6. Update driver to v4.15.5.1

This is also a good sign regarding D-Link not leaving us users
of their older gear stuck with just WEP......
