Are all the problems over now?

Is it worth considering now?

They publish a 40GB/ month dowload limit. If you exceed this, do they just
cut you off for the rest of the month, or is there some other way they
manage this?

Tia for any comments.

Hi,

An interesting and good question...

.... answers would be very helpful and interesting...

I hope so... they have had long enough... but something tells me it may not
be all that (I think operationally it is probably pretty fine... but I think
internal systems and processes may be a little poor, confused, convoluted,
etc., etc. - leaving a lot down to the customer, customer chasing and luck
of the which operator you get, how they feel that day and how much valid or
useful training they have received).

Best wishes,

A friend of mine just changed from Virgin to TalkTalk - the Talk3
International incl. broadband. I mentioned before that she might need to
wait quite a bit, but as she still had got the cable internet via Virgin in
parallel, it was not so important. In the end she "only" waited about 3
weeks until the new broadband was working. It seems that it still needs a
bit longer with talktalk to get it running than with other providers where
things are running after a week or so. But the price is really tempting. I
would not expect a lot in terms of customer service quality though, so if
you rely economically on a running broadband service - I would look for
something else. But for the occasional user that looks for an all-inclusive
package it's good value for money - if you are not put off by the long
contract period.

Well this is what they write on their website:

"If you only occasionally have very high usage, we're unlikely to be
concerned unless it becomes a regular occurrence. If this does happen then
we'll get in touch to help you find ways to reduce your usage.

Ultimately, if your usage still remains excessive despite our attempts to
help you reduce it, we may restrict your general Internet service
throughout the entire day. A last resort will be to suspend your service
and possibly close your account.

We definitely don't want to do that, TalkTalk is all about giving our
customers the best possible phone and broadband service and with your
support we'll work with you and hopefully avoid this from happening."

So it seems that they do not automatically restrict your service, only as a
last exit if it's consistently above the limit.
