WGR614v2 - Connected, but No Internet?!
I have a Netgear WGR614v2 router, Frimware 2.05. My problem is that,
at seemingly random times, the internet stops working. It isn't on
just my computer (winXP), also on all the other computers on the
network (WinME, Win2000 SP4)... Some use WinXP's utility, and some use
the Card's utility...either way the connection doesnt work...
However, the connection boxes in the system tray still show as
connected, we just lose all internet access...

I've had this problem with WEP on and off, Broadcast SSID on and off,
I even lowered the MTU size from 1500 to 1492.

Changing channels doesn't help (tried 1, 4, 6, 8, 11)

When the internet stops working, even if I plug directly into the
router LAN port, it still won't work.

The only way I know to get it to work again, is to unplug and plug it
back in...

I am at my wits end here, I need a stable connection!

Any suggestions?

So you know its nothing to do with wireless .

It is a problem with your router, or your internet connection...

you need to tracert when you lose the connection and see where the point of
failur e is , then either replace your router of contact your isp, depending
on where it fails.

I have a similar problem with the same WGR614 v2 router, Firmware
version 2.16. The network hangs in my case have not been random;
they occur only when I am on a cordless phone. About 10-30% of
incoming or outgoing calls on the phone take the router into a
catatonic state from which it looks like the only recovery is to
unplug and plug the router's power cord. (It's the router and not the
cable modem internet connection, since the website http://192.168.0.1
hangs.)

I tried a bunch of things, including updating the firmware and
changing channels. It looked like a case of interference between the
router and the 2.4GHz cordless phone system. So just last night I
sprung for a new set of 5.8GHz cordless phones, and surprise of
surprises, the router went south again today during a phone call.

Any ideas how to get past the router outages?

Thanks!
