Hi,
For all of the people who bought a Netgear WG602v1 access point knowing it
would support WPA with a firmware upgrade (according to their July 2003
datasheet), that is no longer true according to Netgear's website. At
http://kbserver.netgear.com/kb_web_files/n101190.asp go to the bottom of the
page and you will find that it say's:
NETGEAR Products That Do Not and Will Not Support WPA
Older products, that do not show in the "Product Quick Find" at the upper
right of the NETGEAR home page.
ME101
WGE101
"WG602 (WG602v2, however, does have WPA) "
So since you were promised WPA through a firmware upgrade, if you need it
get an RMA# to get a WG602v2. Don't let Netgear get away with lying to it's
customers. This is not the first time they did something like this, Upnp
support was another one in another device.
Don't bother emailing them as they never respond. You can call them at
1-888-NETGEAR, and wait for 30min on hold. Tell them that this feature was
important in your purchase of the WG602v1, that their datasheet from July
2003 said it will support it, and that their website say's it will not. You
shouldn't have trouble getting an RMA.
