WG511T won't stop scanning channels

Hello...

Netgear WG511T PCMCI adapter on Win98 connecting to a
Linksys WAP 54G Access Point with WPA enabled.

Upgraded the driver for the netgear adapter to latest
version (340) . I'm connecting fine, but the card
continuously scans the different channels. It'll be on the
proper channel (6), then scan a dead channel, disconnecting
my connection, then return to 6, then scan another dead
channel, etc.

Any suggestions?

Thx,
D.

I have the Netgear WG511T and it is working flawlessly. Yet, my card is
connecting with another Netgear product. (WGR614v1) The problem you are
experiencing was similar to some of the ones I was having when I owned a
linksys router and notebook card. I experienced repeated dropped
signals and endless scans.

I have that card, and it does that even with a Netgear router (I can't
get it to work at all with a linksys router). It is the Netgear
utility that has that behavior. If you had Windows XP you could try
disabling the utility and let Windows manage the connection, but that
is difficult to get working properly with this card.

Sorry I can't help you. I ended up buying a Linksys card.

Thanks. Somehow the problem solved itself. However, I
notice that the Netgear card wasn't playing well with the
Linksys AP. Speeds were miserable, and I could log on to
the network. Switched to a Linksys WPC54G card and, after
battling with Odyssey WPA, everything seems much better.

FYI & FWIW,
D.
