wg111 netgear usb wifi anyone???

i've contacted netgear support, and am patiently waiting for response.
am searching for info on how to make it work!!!
installation is interesting, (ie flaky!)
when i do get it to stick, and it appears in device manager correctly, it
still behaves as follows...

only when i insert the dongle do i get a green laptop icon, and i seem to
connect for 5 seconds, then cuts off.
the smart wizard doesn't seem to want to run from the desktop icon either.
(it does nothing when i click it)
i've disabled wifi zero config thingy,
i'm running XP, i've disabled WEP while setting up, and i can connect
perfectly with a netgear PCMCIA card(WG511) with the same router settings
etc.

anyone else have similar trouble and find solution?

I've searched around and found a lot of germans with similar trouble.
