WEP Issues for over one month now and no help for MSFT

Windows XP Pro
MN-510

When I tried to use the install disk, I got the message
that the WEP is invalid so I aborted the install. I then
went to to the MS Broadband utility to do a manual
install and tried to change the WEP key under computer
settings and I could not save my WEP key.

I've also tried shutting off the Wireless security and it
still does not connect. I have a good signal and I do
see my SSID on the wireless workstation but I can't seem
to get this working.

It was actaully working when I first set the system up
but it has not worked for the last month.

I have another workstation that has no problems at all so
I swapped the MN-510's and still get the some
connectivity problems.

I called MSFT Broadband support and thay had me uninstall
and reinstall both the adapters and base station and
reinstall it and it did not fix the problem. They gave
up
after several escallations and attempts. They suggested
that I contact XP support since they think it's a driver
problem.

Any ideas?

No. Sounds like many are having this same issue. I
don't understand by MicroSoft can't solve it. I've spend
hours on the phone with them and they are clueless.

login to the router manually through 192.168.2.1 and manully enter the
WEP key there. save it to a file in notepad to your hard drive and
print it out. then enter it manually in the client. use only the
characters a-f and 0-9 to create the key. try a different key than the
one you have been trying to use.

When I try to apply the wep code to the wireless
workstation it gives me the message "the setting could
not be applied". I also noticed that on the wireless
workstation that is working when I go into the ms bb
utility tools drop down menu it has ADAPER SETTINGS but
for wireless wireless workstation where it is not working
it has COMPUER SETTINGS under the tools drop down menu.

Doe thsat give a clue to what the issue is?
