Hello all, quick question, I've got an old 3COM Router ( 3CRWE50194 )
which only allows either automatic or manual WEP Key generation, no
passphrase option. I just got a Prism2 PC Card from PheeNet which
doesn't seem to have anywhere to enter a Hex Key, only a spot for a
passphrase! Any help on how to link these two up?

A possible workaround would be to download Boingo. It's a free download at
www.boingo.com and has quite a bit more useful features than a lot of the
utilities that come with some cards.

Don't be scared off by the subscription info. It is not necessary to
subscribe.

The PC Card is not compatible, XP doesn't recognize it as a wifi card,
the wifi options can only be set from within the cards hardware
configuration advanced settings. The utility which came with the card
craps out with the error,

"Cannot connect to Network Agent"

Or some such thing. Thanks for the idea though, any more?

Did you try Boingo?

It should do all the work the card's config utility was supposed to.

Ah, you looked at the compatibility chart.

Well, according to that chart, Boingo doesn't support my work laptop's
built-in Prism 2.5 card, nor does it support my personal WPC11 version 4.

Guess what. I use it with both of those cards.

Do whatever you wish. I just tried to help.

Oh, I'll give it a shot then. Didn't mean to offend, I just thought
their chart would be accurate. I'll let ya know. Thanks for the tip.
