Help. Have MN700 Basestation with a 510 wireless USB on
PC downstairs. Initial installation was good and all
worked ok. 3 weeks ago, PC w/USB wireless stops working.
Reinstalled both sides, but cannot get WEP key to be
recognized by basestation. 510 does see basestation since
I have changed SSID. Runing XP on PC and ME on basestation
PC.
Any help or suggestions?
Tom
BTW, DSL modem is set at PPP, not bridge, basestation is
Dynamic on WAN setting. Basestation PC works ok.

Disable WEP on router and PC. Verify everything works. If
not let us know. Then reenable WEP using same key on
router and PC.

I had the same problem from the get go. The disk I created
for some reason didn't have the key so I typed it manualy
and it sain it was no god. I then disabled the wep and
still no good. My PC's (3) of them with cat5 worked fine.
I then ran the wizard again from the main PC and this time
it copied the key. Used this disk on the laptop and it
worked the first time.

So try and run the setup again with the whole network
running because the only thing I did different was the
laptop and card were active the second time around.

Good Luck :-)

Okay, I tried setting up without the WEP key, and the
wireless, although it can sense (?) the network, as
evident by the new SSID name, it does not show up as a
netwrok component. SO I tried to setup WEP again, and
still no luck. When typing the WEP key on the wireless
adapter PC, it tells me it's invalid for the netowrk.
This after I returned and replaced the wireless adapter
(510).
So, I figure let me try to connect the wireless pc with a
cat5 cable. Strung the cable last night, removed the
wireless software , unplugged the 510, and it shows a
network connection but no info coming from the
basestation. So perhaps the problem is in the 700. I have
it hooked into a DSL modem, then into my nic card. Any
thoughts as to what I should change? I'm going to reset
the modem fully and reinstall to see if that helps.
Should the 700 and modem be bridged? The modem is set to
PPPoE, is that correct? Internet access from the
basestations PC is good and fast.
Thanks for listening.
