I have an odd problem with my new WGR614.
I connected and set it up with a workstation (hard wired ethernet) PC.
All worked fine and I connected to the internet with no problems.
Next I configured my laptop to connect to the NETGEAR wireless signal..
Again no problems as I connected to the internet. I could get to the
Netgear setup screen on both machines.
Then the problem. When the laptop was connected via only the wireless
connection I could NO LONGER access a network mapped drive on the first
PC and visa- versa.. If I connected an ethernet cable from the router
to the laptop, I had no problems accessing a mapped drive... With only
the wireless.. no deal.
I was assuming there must be some kind of setting in the router to
allow wireless to access other computers mapped drives but Netgear tech
support said there was not. None of the router's settings have not
been changed except to define my ISP's userid and password.
Their tech support said to return this unit and purchase another.. I
did but the same problem remains even though I have switched to a
different set of computers (one wired to router and 1 wireless).
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
George
BTW .. With the setup I described above... I can ping the workstation
from the laptop, but the workstation cannot ping the laptop.
