Hi,
Just thought I would ask if anyone else has problems setting up a
Lucent Technologies WaveLan (Silver) PCMCIA card into a desktop PC
running Win98.
The desktop PC has a Ricoh RL5C475 PCI to PCMCIA adaptor which the
WaveLan card slots into.
Now, the Ricoh device installed OK, Win98 recognised it and
automatically installed the drivers. The PC Card is a different
matter.
I got the most recent drivers, with drivers for Win95/98/NT/2K/XP. I
am obviously trying to install the Win98 drivers. The drivers appear
to install OK, but in the device manager list I see an exclamation
mark next to the device. Which says "Code 10". Googling around
suggests that the drivers didn't get loaded.
This seems correct because when I plug in the PC Card I get the
CardServices burp noise, instead of the boop-beep which would indicate
a successful load of the drivers.
I tried uninstalling everything. I even moved the card around
(physically) in the PC and removed some unused hardware to try to
resolve any conflicts (if that is indeed the problem).
I eventually got it to a state where the drivers would load, I got the
boop-beep noise from card services, followed shortly after by a
lockup, and sometimes a Blue Screen.
So, no luck in getting this to work.
I even tried an older version of the drivers, but it's just the same.
I know that the hardware works, because I have a Linux PC with it all
working!
So, any suggestions?
Regards
Nick
