Alright then, here's some info that I hope you will really appreciate-

Punctuation might make your question easier to understand, and thereby give
more people the inclination to try and answer it.

On the Mac side, the sniffer utility is KisMAC, alphaware that replaces
Apple's AirPort card driver with one notorious for causing kernel
panics. IMHO, better to let your friend keep his $50.

A few coherent sentences would also be appreciated.

Think laterally. Don't necessarily try to crack the WEP key (assuming he's
using one). Instead, maybe social engineer him into executing something
that will retrieve the key from the registry or an ini file.

Hmm, you might try Kismet, it supports SSID de-cloaking.
That said, Kismet runs on linux so is not Windows98 friendly at first
glance, however, there IS a way around this if you search hard enough for
it. As you are about to screw your mate for $50 you can do some of the work
yourself

"Certainly Your Grammar Was Indescribably Naughty"

After you have found the SSID, you may then find he has 128 WEP for you to
get through - and if he is a clever little bunny, a firewall after that.
Airsnort can help with WEP but again windows support is limited at the
moment.

Of course, he could be having a giggle and simply not even have it switched
on

Clever! Are there any driver issues with that?

Sorry to hear that you hurt your back, but I cannot understand how, even with
this injury, if you can manage to hit the keys with letters on them, you
cannot also manage to hit the full stop and shift keys occasionally too.

Another thing I cannot understand is what you are saying. It's a jumble.

Rod.

Well obviously you need his IP address ideally. His best standard setup
would be No SSID with WEP

For windows - netstumbler will still detect his presence even without SSID.
Ethereal is a fair packet sniffer.

Best combo is Kismet (but its a bugger to get going) with Airsnort to break
the WEP.

Use a dual boot system for convenience.

Off you pop - I expect you to be in by lunchtime.

And I claim my 20% commission :-)
