Hello,

My WRT54g is working perfect. I now bought a WAP54g to use in repeater
mode but as soon as I connect the WAP54g to the power I loose all network...
The WAP is in the signal range of the WRT (iwconfig gives from 8/92 to
22/94) and has the same ESSID and channel as the WRT.

I don't have any security enabled (yet) and no cable going to the AP.

Is it necessary to have WEP set up to get the WAP act as a repeater? I
found somewhere that WPA is not working in repeater mode?

shit shit shit!! :-)

I found the problem: I did put the WRT network hardware address and not
the wireless hardware addres in the WAP repeater... :-)

You need the latest firmware in both your WAP and WRT. They work fine for me
without security enabled...

You are correct. In the release notes for the 2.06 for the WAP54G, it says
that WPA does not work in this version in bridge/repeater mode.
