WAP11 - Client Mode to Connect To a BEFW11S4

This is driving me crazy. I have a simple set up.....

xp laptop/linux server --> 4port switch ---> wap11 ---> befw11s4 --->
Gateway ---> DSL

A PC attached to my BEFSW114 can ping the laptop, but not the linux
server. I've even totally disabled the firewall. Trying to ping from
the Linux box to the befw11s4 and the gateway doesn't work either. The
funny thing is, the laptop can use DHCP to obtain an IP over the
wireless link. But the linux box and a windows 2000 box choke when
trying to obtain an IP.

I've read it can't be done over and over. But why does the Windows XP
Laptop work perfectly? I'm able to share files, surf the net. Is it
something to do with XP's built in wireless client? I hope to god not
or I will boycott Linksys products until death.

Sounds like only your wireless is working.
Are you using straight-through cable from the 4port switch to the boxes?

My setup, same router, mix of XP & Linux all sharing.

DSL -----------> router -------------> 3-wired & 1-wireless DHCP,
1-static server
crossover straight through
192.168.1.1 192.168.2.1
