If you're using Windows XP, turn off the setting "Use Windows to
configure my wireless settings" under the Wireless Networks tab of the
properties dialog for that connection. Then use the config tools that
came with your card to do a site survey. My experience has been that
XP maintains the original connection it made with the router as long
as there is a signal, even if a stronger one is present. Also, it's
site survey doesn't show multiple APs that might have the same SSID,
while your card's tool probably does.
