Hi,

I want to enable WAP on my home network. I have 3com gear, a pc card and a
W-Router, 11g. 3com claim to support WAP.

When configure my router, i can see an option for WAP(256). But for the
client, I can not find such an option, even thought it says on the retail
box that it supports WAP (256).

Is it possible to enable WAP?

Kim

PS. I have allready patch for XP, for WAP: Q815485
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=815485
(Do I need it?)
DS.

First of, you mean WPA not WAP. WAP is Wireless Access Point, WPA is
Wi-fi Protected Access...

Yes, you need the WPA patch for XP. Once that's installed, you can
configure WPA, right-click the connection you're using for wireless in
the "Network and Dialup connections" window (right-click My Network
Places" to get that window up) and select properties. There should be a
new "wireless" tab on properties page.

Although this document is for Belkin products, the process is the same
for regardless of brands:
http://web.belkin.com/support/kb/kb.asp?a=2806

Hope that helps.

Hi,

thank you for the reply. Yes, you are correct, WAP is something else.

Unfortunatly, I can't find any "wireless tab" described below, even after
that

I have installed the patch from MS. Really frustrating. Is there any command
prompt

command that I can run, to get it up? Or is there any thing alse, I can do?

Once again, thnx for the help.

/Kim

Hi,

I have found the problem!!! I have disabled some "unneccessary" cervises on
my mashine some time ago.

Among them was the "wireless zero configuration" service. I have put it back
to automatic and started it.

I can see the tab now. I hope the rest will work.
