Hi All

Having an absolute mare trying to get wanadoo briadband to work on my friend
PC. I get an error 633. The port is alreayd open or not configured for dial
up nnetworking.

However sometimes , I get an error 680 , there is no dial tone.

I have tried absolutely everything bar a fresh install of windows.

I have uninstalled all drivers and reinstalled , downloaded Microsift dial
up 1.4. Removed all other USB devices.

The house has three phones (one of which springs out of a PCI modem), a pci
modem and Sky digital all plugged into one line. Could this be causing the
issue. All sockets have filters on them , and I have tried running a new
extension direct from the main phone point.

the house phones are as follows.

Point one has a phone in it.

Point two has a phone , sky , pci modem and broadband on it.

I do have two solid green lights on the modem and wandoo claim the line has
tested ok.

I am at a complete loss at what to do next .

Any help.advise appreciated ,

John

Have you tried logging on using username bt_test@startup_domain (no password
required)
you will not be able to access the web but if you are able to logon you have
the computer
correctly configured.

And also what happens if this works. Does it mean the ISP is at fault and if
it doesnt , is it definately the PC

Sorry I should have added that the above test will only work if wannado uses
BT`s ipsteam
product to connect their customers, it will not work if wannado uses
datastream. To check
further and to ask questions of other people using wannado go here

Yes but see above.

Yes if this works then its probably an ISP problem, I`m not sure if wannado
uses
ipstream or datastream as

John, I know very little but I would first of all try disconnecting all
other telephones except to the modem; even connect the modem to a different
extension as a trial. This should show if the broadband connection is ok or
if it is interference.

Windows 98 I presume.

Was your friend prompted for the Win98 CD during the modem software
installation?

If so, what did s/he do at this point?

Try the following:

(Will need Win98 CD or cab files - reboot after each step)

Disconnect modem and delete Speedtouch connection in DUN

CP > Add/Remove Progs > uninstall modem software

CP > Add/Remove Progs > uninstall all DUN upgrades

CP > Add/Remove Progs > Windows Setup > uninstall DUN

CP > Add/Remove Progs > Windows Setup > reinstall DUN

CP > Network > if necessary, install TCP/IP and Client
for MS Networks

Install DUN 1.4 upgrade
<http://www.microsoft.com/windows98/downloads/corporate.asp>

Install modem software

Connect modem

Good Luck
