Hi

I just got signed up to the wanadoo 1mb connection 9 days ago, and the line
was activated by BT after only 4 days, so I have had broadband for 5 days
now. A speed test at www.adslguide.org reports what you would expect,
almost 1mbps connection, and downloads seem to download at full speed from
most western sites.

BUT when i download from somewhere like www.shark.dynip.com I am only
getting a pathetic 1-5k/s which is similar to dial up speeds. The site is
in china I believe. I am using flashget, and if i go to my friends house
with my laptop i can get full speed (he's on nildram) so the chinese servers
are ok. Must be something to do with wanadoo i thought....

Wanadoo say my account hasn't been fully activated yet so that is 99% sure
the problem. But he didnt sound like he knew what he was talking
about...although TBH I dont profess to be any better myself(!) .... is it
possible that he is right??, and my account cant download from certain parts
of the world at full speed yet? It seems hard to believe, i can download
from USA or UK sites at a full 100k+ a second but this chinese site at on
1-5k a second?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Simon

Simon

It's not just Wanadoo.
I'm on PlusNet and the login page took 2 minutes to load.

Being .dynip address then it is probably somebody's private machine at
the end of an ADSL line. All depends on the upload speed of his service
and how many people are using it.
