My 14yr old nephew and his 23 year old sister have been accessing the
net vis Freeserve PAYG but increasing useage prompted me to suggest
maybe it's time for BB. I also mentioned he could offset the cost of
the bb by loosing the second (internet) telephone line.
I had a look around for them and *nearly* picked up with Tesco (being
an NTL customer myself) but made the effort to ring them (actually got
through but was never contacted by Tech Support). I also read the
feedback here ;-)
Anyway, after looking and reading further and whilst I was over my
Sisters last Sat I got them to sign up with Wanadoo for thir 2G capped
bb service, no extras. (I also installed ZoneAlarm, Avast!, AdAware
and Spybot for them).
My nephew phoned (all excited) on Tuesday morning saying the kit had
arrived and I said he may have to hold fire till the ADSL line was
set-up. I thought he might have to wait for a welcome pack or summat
and to give me a ring again when it arrived.
He rang again on Friday to say he had not had a letter but had loaded
the software (I had mentioned *not* to do that ..<sigh>) and plugged
in the cables (all wrong but 'hey' ..) ;-)
Once I got him to sort out all the filters / extensions etc he was
connected up and away ;-)
According to my nephew there are no lights on the old dial-up modem (I
thought I'd get him to test that as a backup) .. I'll have to check
that when I go over there next .. <sigh>
