Wanadoo is my ISP.
As soon as I open Internet Explorer up comes a full page headed Wanadoo
Broadband
It states; "You have arrived at this page due to a recent upgrade of the
Wanadoo Broadband Service. This upgrade in service requires a small number
of our customers to change a setting in their browser (Internet Explorer).
Please ensure that your settings match those in the instruction for your
browser version below
It then lists 8 versions according to whether it is 98 or XP, IE5 or IE6 etc
When I select my version and start to scroll down after reading a few
instructions I get the "Illegal Operation " message and it shuts down.
Someone suggested I change the home page which I did but it still starts
with www.wanadoo.co.uk/broadband/webchanges/. and even if I change it,
wanadoo returns.
I have not had this on my XP PC
It looks authentic

That page gives me a 404 - Page not found. I'm not a wanadoo customer, maybe
that's why I can't access it.

I think it is the change of their proxy server.

open internet explorer, go to tools, internet options, connections, select
the isp in the dial up, click settings, make sure the use proxy is unticked,
also check the same thing for 'lan settings'.

You are absolutely right. Unticked the proxy server and everything OK now!
Thanks
