Wanadoo Broadband automatic opening query?

Recently I was helping a friend to solve his problems with Blueyonder
broadband and I found that with Blueyonder his broadband connection is "on"
all the time. In other words after switching on his PC I could open Internet
Explorer or Outlook Express without having to start the broadband
connection.
I find that with Wanadoo Broadband I have to start it first before I can
open either.
Is this correct or have I missed some setting?

I think you missed something. All Broadband connections are on all the time
so far as I know. You just log in when you click the button to connect to
Wanadoo. I can't remember exactly, but you may be able to get the same
function if you set the login to automatic. If you use a network and a
broadband modem connected via the network, then your connection will always
be live unless you turn it off with the modem control application.

He's connecting through an 'always on' router and you use a modem, which
isn't on until you start up your computer.

you didn't say how you connect. An ADSL router is on all the time. A
USB modem can be made to connect when the PC starts up (put a shortcut
in Startup)

Copy & paste, click & drag or anyother way to place the wannado DUN into
your startup menu.

It's as simple as that.....

But are you sure you want to do it?

I appreciate that my Speedtouch modem for BB is automatically switched on
when I boot.
What I want to achieve is when I open either Internet Explorer or Outlook
Express I don't need to activate the shortcut icon for the speedtouch
connection as I have to do at present

As someone already said, put the shortcut in your startup group.

Alternatively you can buy a router, and leave it powered on.

The reason that blueyonder does this is becasue the cable modem is
powered up and "logged on" to the connection even when the pc is off.

When you turn the pc on you have an instant connection.

You could do this on your Wanadoo connection by using a router rather
than a USB modem
