If the two network sections use the same IP Range then they are "bridged"
which is a Layer2 "thing". The Default Gateway settings (which are Layer3)
should be totaly irrelevant. The Default gateway of the LAN would just be
the ADSL Device.
If it is not working by doing that,...then he needs to be working this out
with the ISP,..they are just as "deep" in this as he is and he probably
cannot fix it without them.
