Problem

Windows 2000 Advanced Server. Static IP address with 5 public ip
addresses.

Internal lan 192.168.x.x

Cayman Netopia 3346 router.

Server using ip of 192.168.0.101. gateway is public gateway 68.153.xxx.xxx

internal lan can connect to server and internet. Lan machines can only
connect to internal lan.

tried to setup the other nic to a public address and point the internal lan
nic to it as gateway.

Nothing seems to work

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks
Henry

How do the cleints get their IP?
From the router or from the server?
Static or through DHCP?

You will need to configure NAT on the server so your clients can go through
the server to the Internet using private IP addresses (192.168.x.x).

Or the router should be configured
with correct routing table, to allow all IPs
in 192.168.x.x subnet (apart from 192.168.0.101).

Thanks. That sounds more like it. If I can do that, do I still need 2
nics?

Thanks

No you don't need 2 NICs. However you must already
know but reminding that the one NIC must be on the same
physical network segment as that of the router..(like
the NIC is connected directly to router which has multiple ports
or both router and the NIC are connected to the same network switch/hub.)

Just forgot one thing...
What Primary DNS server is set up on the clients?
Give the same Primary / other DNS on them, as you have
given on the server.
It is possible that the router is already configured correct,
but you not getting internet, because DNS is not properly
configured on the clients.
