We have sucessfully networked our XP, W98 and MAC OSX
machines. However, the W98 machine can only see the MAC if
the Windows Networking Username and Password is EXACTLY
the same as is used to log on to the MAC. If its not you
get the usual IPC$ error....Any suggestions ?

This behaviour is normal as W9x and ME are not multiuser and cannot
impersonate another user - even when connecting to a remote server.
Therefore you need to have the same user+password all over the LAN where
user-level access control is used.

Of course you can logout and log back in as the other user but you cannot
act as two different users at the same time.
