This behaviour is normal as W9x and ME are not multiuser and cannot
impersonate another user - even when connecting to a remote server.
Therefore you need to have the same user+password all over the LAN where
user-level access control is used.
Of course you can logout and log back in as the other user but you cannot
act as two different users at the same time.
