I have a Windows 2003 SBS that is used in an insurance
office. The server runs a terminal emulation program
called Bosanova Advanced Server for SAA that interfaces
with an IBM AS/400 through a PCI emulation card. The
workstations connect to the AS/400 through the Terminal
Emulation via a program called Advanced Workstation 32.
The Server portion of the software functions correctly
(ie. the link between the server and the As/400 is up).
However, the workstations are unable to connect via TCP
to the server. Bosanova connects on Port 1387, but when
the workstations attempt to connect, they get the
error "Cannot connect to the server on the specified IP
address". The server is on 192.168.100.2. THe
workstations can all access server resources such as
shared folders, etc., so the network connection is
functioning correctly. I also treid installing Bosanova
workstation on the server and configuring it to connect
to 127.0.0.1, and the program gets the exact same error,
even when connecting to the loopback address. I have
tried to configure the Server using a different port, but
any port I try the same error occurs. The server is
configured with all default network settings (nothing
special), all TCP filtering disabled and Allow All
configured. This same configuring worked flawlessly on
Windows 2000 SBS. What has changed with 2003 that could
be causing this problem?
