I have recently installed Windows 2003 Server for the first time.
I have an application that uses Advantage Database Server, which runs as a
service on the Server. This is Dell box with dual Xeons, with only about 6
workstations attached so far. It is configured as a domain.
The application is horribly slow. Initializing the program on a workstation
requires 30 seconds or more, and simply bringing up a screen to insert a
record can require 8-10 seconds. These same operations are instantaneous on
an old 550MHz Pentium NT Server.
I get the sense the network is doing some unusual searching for the server
(which runs as a service is accessed by the Server's IP address with a
specific port #).
Any suggestions what to look for?
TIA
David Ray
