I had a Netgear MR814v2 Wireless Router set up as a switch, connecting
to a VOIP Router Dlink DVG1120M, which was conected to the Internet.
The W-Router was getting IP addresses from the VOIP router.
Now, I put the W-Router back into Router mode -- and it takes longer
to Initially connect to the Internet (getting an IP address??) via the
W-Router. Does this mean that the DHCP server on the DLink is faster
than the NetGear -- or is it inate to going through two layers of NAT
or something else? Any ideas on how to speed it up? Connecting to
the wireless router itself, is just as fast - it's the network setup
which is the problem... Unfortunately, I can't see the progress of the
connection on my PPC to see where it's taking so long... I tried
saving a log on the PPC... that didn't help...
I'm trying to wake up my PPC to a URL. It used to work when the
W-Router was set up as a switch -- now the extra few seconds cause a
timeout.
