VPNs conflict

Hi there,

I have a MN700 running with the latest update. When 2 machines activate a
VPN connection (logging into different networks), something weird happens
and only one machine has a solid VPN connection (the other have its VPN
disconnected every 5 minutes or so). The internet connection on both
machine is OK and if there is only one VPN connection, everything works
perfectly.

Is this a router problem?

TIA.

did you have this issue before you upgraded the firmware? what version of
the firmware is currently in the MN700?

Hi Barb,

Thx for the quick reply.

Yes I had (I've decided to install the update before firing the question).
The numbers are

Runtime code version: 02.01.02.0590
Boot code version: 02.01.02.0590
Hardware version: 00.00.00.0004

I'm not honestly sure if multiple VPN passthrough is supported or not. It
sounds like it isn't. I can't find anything in the literature that addresses
multi VPN's. I do know that I can stay connected forever with a single
computer over VPN. Does your remote VPN switch support multiple sessions?

I don't if they support multiple sessions. I can try to find out if you
believe this is important - the reason I am not sure if it is important is
because each computer is connecting to a complete different VPN (I connect
to my work and my wife to her's). But I am far from being an specialist ;-)

Thx,
Marcelo

if either of the two can keep a connection on their own, then it definitely
would be a issue on the MS hardware. you should really give MS Product
Support a call and see if multiple simultaneous VPN sessions are supported
or not.

You're not the only one having that problem. It just
doesn't work, even when using *nix boxes (which support
multiple VPN's, etc.).

If MS support finds a fix for the routers (both MN-700 and
MN-500 have same problem), let us know ^_^
