Sorry to cross-send this but i don't seem to get any reply from the other
group and I need this sorted asap. Please help.

I need help on setting up our Win2k3 server to accept VPN connections from
a
remote computer. I am new to it so I have no idea how to do it. I would
appreciate if you could give me the procedure of doing it from scratch.
Here's our setup:

Internet--->ADSL Modem --->D-link (DI 624+) Router---->Hub --->Win2k3
Server

As illustrated, ADSL modem connects to Dlink router, DLink router uplinked
to the Hub and the Win2k3 Server connects to the Hub. Dlink router has a
built-in firewall.

Remote PC that will be VPNing are mixed of Win2kPro and Winxp Pro.

Thanks in advance

Garu

in this case, you need

1. forwarding port 1723 to the 2003 server.
2. Setup server 2003 as VPN, this how to setup vpn server may help, http://www.howtonetworking.com/VPN/2003vpn1.htm
3. setup windows client as vpn client, check this how to setup vpn client, http://www.howtonetworking.com/Remot...vpnclient1.htm

Don't send e-mail or reply to me except you need consulting services. Posting on MS newsgroup will benefit all readers and you may get more help.

Thanks sooo much, you've save my life. For the sake of the other readers this fixed my problem:

NOTE: If VPN traffic is traveling through a router or firewall, configure the router or firewall to pass PPTP (TCP Port 1723 and IP Protocol ID 47 [GRE - Generic Routing Encapsulation]) or L2TP over IPSec (UDP Port 500 and IP Protocol ID 50 [Encapsulating Security Payload]) traffic to and from the VPN server

You're the man Robert.
