Hello everyone, i have a client who is going to open up another shop in
another town, we are setting up each site with adsl static ip's. The client
will have a data base at main site for stock control & has contacted the
software company, and they said they would like to have a VPN connection
between the sites for the software , I am in the middle of quoting a new sbs
2003 server for main office, and 2 xp pro pc's at remote office site,

Should i use the RWW instead off the vpn , for the connection between the
sites, as i have done this before and works well, but i have never setup a
vpn connection at all.

If anyone can list the best way for the this solution , i would be grateful,

Hi Greg. I think the ideal solution for you would be to install a Terminal
Server with the database at the main site in addition to the SBS 2003 server
and have clients use RWW to connect to the Terminal Server to access the
database.

There are no dumb questions Greg. If I understand your question correctly,
yes, if you use RWW to connect to a workstation or server at the main
office, you can print to your local printer. You may need to install the
drivers for your local printer on the workstation or server at the main
office to do this however.

Hello dan, well i have acheived the vpn link today , and will work on the
printing in next day or so, Had the following reoly as well

"SuperGumby [SBS MVP] - 10-18-2007 12:04
look at the options below the list of PC's you get after clicking 'Connect
to my PC at work'. Without checking one says something along the lines of
'Allow documents to be printed...', make sure it's ticked.

This works in most cases but not always, particularly if the local printer
is a USB device and even more so if it is a multifunction device. Also,
don't connect and _immediately_ try to print, it sometimes takes a while for
your remote PC to upload and install it's driver into the 'session', give it
a go, if it doesn't work go to Start, Printers and faxes, in the remote
session, see if you have a printer defined as 'my-home-printer in session1'
or 'HPLaser on home_pc' or similar. If not look at the 'system' event log,
you may have errors concerning loading the driver.

Most times the errors can be resolved, sometimes it just plain don't work."

So i will probily be back here logging more notes in the next few days , ok

Once again thanks for the advice,
