I have a network at SiteA using one server with SBS2000 and ISA Server
2000. I have an XP Pro client at SiteA (on the LAN) that I want to use
to connect to SiteB using a Remote Desktop Connection through a VPN.
SiteB also has one server using SBS2000 and ISAServer2000--the same as
SiteA. Each server, both at SiteA & SiteB, use 2 Nics (one Internal, one
External) and each are on
different subnets.

I can connect to SiteB while traveling outsite of SiteA LAN using RDC
through a VPN fine. However, I cannot establish a VPN connection
directly from SiteA while on the LAN. I get an "Error 800 -Unable
establish the VPN Connection..." from my XP Pro client PC.

Note that I can establish a VPN connection from the
SiteA server itself to SiteB but I want to use a client PC using XP Pro
so I
can do a RDC as well. Plus I do not want to work at the server at SiteA

for many reasons.

I know I must need to configure the ISA Server at SiteA to let me
establish the VPN but I am unsure where to begin.

Thanks!

If you can connect to the server at SiteB when the client is not at
SiteA, the server at SiteB must be correctly configured to allow a remote
connection. It could be a firewall setting at SiteA, or it could simply be a
name resolution problem. What name are you using for the VPN server? Can you
ping it by that name from within SiteA? The name needs to resolve to the
server's public IP.

Error 800 is not a very helpful message, as it simply means the
connection attempt failed. What type od VPN are you attempting? If it is
PPTP, change the properties of the client connection from Automatic to PPTP
to get a more specific message.
