I have set up Remote Access over PPTP to a server running Windows Server 2003... The Client and Host both have DSL Connections... however, when I make an outside VPN connection to the sever the bandwidth drops off to below dial-up speeds... Actually, all http requests are being routed to the server and then are forwarded back to the clients... so both the VPN and the WAN connection are slowed to below dial-up speeds... how can I increase the VPN connection bandwidth to be that of my DSL connections highest speed? Is it even possible? I am running an application at the client end of the PPTP tunnel... I hope that I can somehow increase the overall bandwidth of the VPN connection... PLEASE HELP !!!

VPN is always runs at the "upload speed" of the DSL (no, I don't know why).
If your DSL is actually ADSL then your upload speed is considerably less
(sometimes 4 to 1) than the "adertised speed" which is the download speed.

I cannot answer the "... http requests are being routed to the server and
then are forwarded back to the clients ..." because I have no idea what you
mean by that and have no idea of what "server" you speak of and what the
purpose or destination of the HTTP requests are.

It was late in the day when I saw this, so I'll have to look it over when I
get back. I may need time to think about this one anyway. I'm not
experienceing very good DSL/VPN performance myself either and I just found
out today that is it also ADSL.

I would love if you could get back with me...
I'll check this board everyday...
Someone told me that there may be a problem with the
Linksys 4 port router/switch that I am using...
but I have the same problem from home ?!?!?!
I hope I can get this figured out !!!

Thanks Phillip

I am using the Watchguard as a simple router for about 15 clients... (performs very well)... I had to go through 2 Linksys 1 port routers before I figured out that the Error 721 was related to those routers... Junk !!!
