I sure hope this makes sense to someone, cos it desn't to me:

I am trying to configure a client's Win2003 STD server with a single NIC
interface, for use as a VPN server. It's behind a netgear firewall, whcih is
configured for PPTP passthru. I have tested the connection successfully from
my LAN (which is also behind a netgear firewall) using pptpclnt & svr.

So here's the mystery - I can successfully establish a VPN connection, but
ONLY if I use a specific LAN IP address at my (client) end. Currently, the
only IP that seems to function is 10.x.x.26 - no other IP in this range has
worked. I have used this IP on 2 PCs rule out the PC issue.

Initally, my LAN was configured with a 192.168.x.x series, which was the
same as that of the VPN server's LAN, so I changed it to the 10 series to
see if that fixed the problem. Before that however, I experienced the same
success using IP address 192.168.x.6.

I'm not an expert in this field, so please go easy on me if there's some
obvious reason why this is happening.

Thanks in advance
Russell.

PLEASE IGNORE THIS

It seems to have been caused by a single PC per subnet timeout issue.

You should not "already exist" on the same subnet you are dialing into,...it
creates a situation where you have two "nics" on the same subnet.

You need to test from a machine that is outside the LAN.
