Hi all,

I'm trying to do a network 2 network VPN, where both end points have
private IP's and are behind firewalls. I control one of the firewall so
have not problem doing reverse NAT back to my box on whatever port.

Which VPN software best suites my needs here? CIPE looked like the best
option but I cant get the thing to compile for the life of me. Does anyone
have any suggestions?

Thanks

I'd pick OpenVPN. It does not need special device drivers
line CIPE. It's using the tun/tap driver to get packets
to and from the network layer. It can be set up running
much like CIPE, using a single UDP port for transporting
the encapsulated traffic.

OpenVPN is easy to set up, is reasonably secure - insamuch as no-one's
actually done a formal audit on it - and will do what you need. (I know
it will work because I have it set up this way myself.)

Some people who know about these things have been extremely concerned
about the effective security of CIPE

Thanks all for the feedback. I'll give OpenVPN a bash and let you know
how I do.
