I have the following problem connecting with RRAS on Windows 2003:

RRAS is setup for PPTP connections. It was working for a long time but
now whenever someone attempts to connect they get this message: error
691: The remote connection was denied because the username and password
combination you provided is not recognized, or the selected
authentication protocol is not permitted.

No authentication settings were changed as far as I know on the RRAS
server. I rebooted the server and was able to connect for a few minutes
only. The RRAS server is part of a domain. I connect using my domain
username/password.

In the system log of the RRAS server it shows event id 20014: "The user
domain/<user> has connected and failed to authenticate on port VPN3-137.
The line has been disconnected."

Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Dude you cannot diagnose a VPN issue like this without somebody seeing what the issue is. Also it could be several different things . Give more Details..

Can anyone help with this error? It fixed itself but the problem recurs
intermittently.
