VPN doesn't map

We're using Windows server 2003 as a VPN server with XP pro clients. When
they connect they have access to network drives by accessing the UNC paths
(ie. \\fileserv\department) but the departmental drives are not mapped
automatically like they are when you log on in the office. Is there a Group
Policy setting in AD that enables this or is this a setting on the VPN
server? thanks

What you may want to do is use CMAK with logon script to map the network drives. Or create a batch file including VPN dial plus mapping. these links may help,

How to vpn automatically 1. Add pre-setup VPN auto-connection by CMAK to the Startup. 2. Create a logon batch with rasdail command to start the VPN connection. ...

TS over VPN You also can use CMAK to save or export a VPN client for other computers. What's CMAK? How to install CMAK? How to configure TS over VPN - coming soon ...

On the LAN the drives are probably mapped by a logon script. Making a
VPN connection just sets up an IP connection. It does not do a logon, so a
logon script will not run.
