Hey guys, i'm workin on a domain with windows server 2003 in server 2003
mode, with only server 2003 and xp clients. We have a single DC with a
backup DC, and a second DC in the works. we have a bout 50 client machines,
and maybe 5 wireless computers. The wireless computers connect to the
domain, and thus its shares, through a vpn. For some reason i'm getting
pretty consistent disconnects to the vpn, regardless if its a wired or
wireless client. i can't seem to pin point why exactly this is happening.
I assumed the DC was getting over loaded (DC is a dual opteron 246) but perf
mon has been showing otherwise. proc load never gets above 5 percent, the
hdd's barely move, and both NIC cards seem to have room to spare. Any help
pointing me in the right direction would be good. The NIC card that the vpn
clients connect to is a realtek 100 meg, it is a cheaper card, right now im
assuming that might be the problem.
on a side note, we push the royale theme, and a background through
active group policy, and about 10 percent of the clients dont get the
background or theme. don't know if they are related.
